The Insatiable Booksluts ‘Award-Winning’ Challenge

Ahh, those Booksluts.  This is taking me a long time to do, and I keep losing track of the stuff that I’ve read that counts toward this challenge and what doesn’t, so I’m listing what I have to do, and what I might read for it.  There are some listed here that I’ve tried to read and failed (’cause they were boring, or too dense for my tiny mind), but I’ve listed them here anyway so that I can keep track of them.

Three Full-Length books by Nobel Laureates:

The Immoralist Andre Gide

The Cancer Ward Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn – boy, that was too much like hard work.  Here’s what I thought of what I read though.

The Gulag Archipelago Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Nip the Buds, Shoot the Kids Kenzaburo Oe

Three Full-Length novels that won Pulitzer Prizes:

Beloved Toni Morrison

Gone with the Wind Margaret Mitchell

Dragon’s Teeth Upton Sinclair

Three books that won the Man-Booker prize:

The Old Devils Kingsley Amis – nah, this one doesn’t count.  Of course, I still reviewed it.

Amsterdam Ian McEwan

Last Orders Graham Smith

The Sea, the Sea Iris Murdoch

…one PEN/Faulkner award winner,

War Trash Ha Jin

…one National Book Award for Fiction winner,

them Joyce Carol Oates

…and one Neustadt International Prize for Literature winner.

Baby No-eyes Patricia Grace
